Thank you card

My sister got married in July 2007...Hurrah!

We got stuck for a babysitter for the night do and our friends Mother kindly offered to watch Rheya for us since she was watching her Grandson anyway.

To say thank you for her kind offer I made her this card. A light improvement on the other cards don't you think?

My first attempt at card making

In June 2007 I bought this card making kit on a whim

and so began my venture into card making.

These are the first cards I ever made. I do get better with time I promise.

This was made for my husband for Father's Day from our daughter Rheya.

this one was for one of my 2 step-dads (well one is an ex-step dad)

I apologise for things not being in any particular order at the moment. I have a lot to show you so it's probably going to take a while to go back through my pictures.

Ruby's Capri Pants

In February 2008 I agreed to a swap with an online friend. My crochet for her knitting.

This picture was taken before I'd sewn on the flower and crocheted the drawstring.

1930's Beret

My Nanna turned 80 years old in February 2008.

I'd been racking my brains trying to think of something to buy her and then I came across this pattern I thought it was really pretty and it made me think of my Nanna.

It only took me 2 days to make it...I'm quite proud of how it turned out :)

Please excuse Pooh bear, I look terrible in hats so he agreed to be my model.

I also made this the bag for her from the Happy Hooker book.

I made this in February 2008 for a very special friend. I can't quite remember if I made it for a special occasion or just because. I do remember that she said she liked it (when she saw the pattern) and at that point I decided she would have it :)

I even remembered to add a button ;)

Santa pants of Dec 2007

My second project was a pair of Santa pants for my poor unsuspecting 1 year old. It seemed like a good idea at the time.

Introductions

Welcome to my craft blog and thank you for looking.

My name is Samantha. I'm currently 31 years old, I've been happily married for 9 years this July and have 2 beautiful daughters, Rheya who turned 3 years old last December and Anara who just turned 1 year old last month.

I've always been artistic. I had a love for observational drawing when I was at school. I loved to draw plants, flowers, fruit...anything that stayed still really. I also had a thing for drawing pictures of people from photographs.

I wanted to continue my studies into A Level but it wasn't meant to be. Everywhere I went they were closing down their A Level art courses and eventually I gave in and studied Environmental Science, Theatre Studies and Human Biology.

My art took a side line whilst I lived a life of partying, followed by settling down with my now Husband, setting up home and eventually starting a family.

It wasn't until I fell pregnant with my first daughter that I got my craft bug back. I wanted to make her a blanket so I bought myself some knitting needles and some yarn and cast on for the first time in years (My Nanna originally taught me to knit when I was about 7 years old) I never did finish that blanket, but it did open up the doors to my artisitc side.

In November 2007 I got the urge to learn to crochet. It's something I wanted to learn as a child but I didn't know anyone who could teach me. I had the same problem as an adult but this time I had access to a wonderful tool...the internet. With the help of youtube and various other websites I made my first crocheted item, a pair of longies for my daughter.

Longies

They're not my best work, but I was pretty proud of my first crocheted item. Not bad for a beginner eh?

From there it was an upward spiral of card making, jewellery making, sewing, fimo, baking and scrapbooking...if it's crafty I'm probably going to give it a go.

I think that's enough introduction for now. I hope you enjoy my blog :)
