WIP Wednesday: Totoro

Is it Wednesday again? The days just seem to be wizzing by at the moment and I'm not getting much crafting done :sad face:

On the bright side I feel useful again, something that's been lacking for a few months. My eldests school has needed quite a bit of help recently and I've enjoyed being the one that could offer that help, maybe I need a job haha.

On the crafting side of things, I started making Totoro for one of my daughter's teachers. If you recall I made her a Jiji cat for Christmas because she's a Ghibli fan...well this time she's getting Totoro :D I just hope I can get it finished in time!

Wip Wednesday: blog post coming up!

I need to make 2 more gifts after this. One for her main teacher who also likes to craft, but I can't for the life of me remember if she told me what kind of crafting she did....the other teacher hasn't given me any clues as to what she might like.

WIP Wednesday: Hitchhiker

Firstly I must apologise for my lack of updates. I've been slowly plodding along with the Hitchhiker scarf and I made the Dolman top last week (blog entry is here) but apart from that I've been busy with other things. I have been using my crafty hands but to aid my daughters school. I'm helping make costumes for the year 6 performance.

Yesterday we joined the towns people in watching the Olympic flame pass through our town. I found it all very exciting.

But onto my WIP. I'm about halfway through and I'm really enjoying making it. I love an easy make, something I can take with me anywhere and not have to think too much about

photo.JPG

My youngest daughter has recently decided that she is too old for naps, unfortunately her behaviour is telling me that she is still very much in need of them, my sanity agrees. Today I took extreme measures and I set off on the school run 30 minutes early, knowing she would fall asleep on the way there. I took my knitting and had 30 minutes of very much needed quiet, knitting time

WIP Wednesday: Little Sister Dress, Hitchhiker and a sew-along

Happy Wednesday!

My crafting has taken a back burner for a couple of weeks whilst other things have been going on

We visited The Deep

My WIPS this week are a Little Sister dress for a friends little girl. There isn't enough of this yarn to make the whole thing unfortunately, and since the yarn is only available in the US my choices are to try to find something that matches (probably unlikely), find something that contrasts nicely, maybe a different shade of green or brown, or try find a supplier in the US that is willing to post more here. Either way it should look fab.

and the other day I cast on Hitchhiker (I have an allergy to working on one project at a time) unfortunately this is what I'm having to do at the moment since one of my needles has a split down it and it's catching on the yarn (which is from A Stash Addict)

New needles are on the way, I think I'm going to stick with the metal variety from now on.

As well as the projects above, I will soon be taking part in Kitschy Coo's sew-along. Amanda (owner of Kitschy Coo) is offering a 15% of her fabrics and the pattern is on offer at £5 for the sew-along (increasing to £7 after the sew-along). If you like to sew and would be interested in joining go along to her website for full details of how to join in.

I personally can't wait! I've been dying to have a go at sewing knit fabrics.

WIP Wednesday: Another little sister dress

This time for my eldest daughter

The yarn is a bit fluffier than the yarn I used for the last one, so I'm not sure how it's going to turn out yet.

Please excuse the paper. The yarn blended too much with my carpet.

Yarn: Sublime Organic Merino Wool DK

The rainbow cardigan I was making is finished and just needs buttons, but you'll have to wait until Friday for that one :P

The Strawberry "party" my friend and I threw for our youngest children was a success. I'm itching to start planning something else now.

I'm thinking of throwing a candy "party" for my eldest in December, but this time for family only.

WIP Wednesday: In threes

Morning everyone, I hope you all had a lovely Bank holiday.

I'm currently making the In Threes cardigan with some raib ow yarn, but if I'm honest I'm having second thoughts. I love my rainbows but this might be a little *too* bright for a cardigan.

photo.JPG

I'll get to the end of the ball before I decide.

Sorry for the short post, I'm busy getting a Birthday playdate together for tomorrow, pictures of that after the event.

Before I forget. Someone wanted to know what those socks were that were poking out from under Anara's trousers...they're shark socks :D She's also got Crocodiles and Tigers...haha

WIP Wednesday: Boob!!!

Did I make it? Is it still Wednesday?

I've been so busy these past few days. Our car died and it's brought with it a few problems, but alas, I'm not here to talk about my life woes...let's see what crafty things I've been up to.

My Little Sister dress has made such little progress that it wasn't even worth my time photographing it, it still looks like this and I'm still reading the Jodi Picoult book.
Little Sister's Dress

I did start another project, because 4 WIP's obviously isn't enough :/

A friend of mine is a La Leche League leader and asked me if I could knit her a boob for training...Of course I can!!! :D

WIP Wednesday: Little Sister Dress

It's Wednesday again, it seems to have come around really quickly.

I'm still working on the Little Sister Dress for my youngest daughter. I'm really enjoying the mindlessness of this project. Apart from a couple of increases every 7th row, I'm just knitting round and round. It's growing slowly due to the yarn being quite thin, but it means it'll be nice for the coming summer months.

The book I'm reading is "Change of Heart" by Jodi Picoult. I'm not very far in but it's reminding me a lot of "The Green Mile" by Stephen King. In fact some bits of it are almost exactly the same :\

Little Sister's Dress

I'm also having a fabric dilemma if any of you lovely crafty people would like to help me out. I've had some wonderful ideas through Facebook and will investigate some of them shortly.

I've been getting back into sewing recently, I've made 2 things this past week, they can be seen here and here.

Lastly I'd like to thank everyone for your kind comments. I'm in a bit of a migraine minefield at the moment so haven't been able to be as active as I would like at replying and commenting on your blogs. I have been flicking through and commenting where I can...please bare with me.

WIP Wednesday: Little Sister's Dress and a Doll dress

It's Wednesday again and I seem to have my knitting mojo back.

I'm currently reading "Before I go to sleep" by SJ Watson. I'm not very far into it so I can't yet tell you if it's any good yet. My girls and me should to visiting the library either today or tomorrow morning so I'm hoping to pick up another Jodi Picoult.

WIP Wednesday

On the needles this week we have Little Sister's Dress and a dress for the doll I made (sorry the pattern isn't on ravelry)

The Little Sister's Dress is a lovely mindless knit. I love things I don't have to think about.  I'm making this for my youngest daughter.
WIP Wednesday

The dress is a basic garter stitch dress

I just need to find a tiny dolls belt buckle so I can make a belt to go around it.

Oooh and did you notice my new needles?
WIP Wednesday

I'm slowly moving over to symfonie's because I have a nickel allergy and I suspect the metal needles are nickel based.

I'm also happy to report that I caught my daughter playing with her doll the other day.

She's very much looking forward to having some clothes for her :)

WIP Wednesday: Little Sister's Dress and a bit of progress on the doll

It's hard to believe that this time last week I was sitting in a family pub garden, with my family, enjoying the warm sun whilst the children played.

photo.JPG

this Wednesday, I woke up to this

 photo.JPG

We've had to cancel our plans to go to a friends for an Easter playdate, instead we're stuck indoors making rice crispy buns. I would much rather be at my friends with adult company and the children playing together nicely doing Easter crafting. Oh well :(

photo.JPG

On a more positive note, it means that I now have time to do a WIP Wednesday post.

I cast on a new project the other night. No I haven't finished the doll yet, but she is slowly making some progress and I hope to have her ready for FO Friday. She currently looks like this

WIP Wednesday

The other project I mentioned is the Little Sister's Dress although I think it's going to be a top rather than a dress for my long 2 year old. The book I'm reading is one I picked up at random from the library and I can't put it down...it is such an amazing book, I highly recommend it. I found out later that it's also a film so I now have that waiting to be watched...must finish the book first though.

WIP Wednesday: Doll bloomin' doll & a secret

Happy Wednesday!

For those of us that are Mother's or Mother's-to-be, I hope you had a lovely Mother's Day. Being a Mum is by far my most favourite "hobby". I know hobby is a strange word to use, but to me a hobby is something you choose to do because you enjoy doing it. I chose to be a mother (twice) and I love it...so yes, it's kind of my hobby, one I take very seriously
(when I'm not goofing around with my girls :P).

Some snippets from my Mother's Day

and of course my amazing girls, that make Motherhood so worth while.

Ok enough of the soppy stuff. Onto the bane of my life

THE DOLL!!!!

She currently looks like this and can you believe I've lost the back of her head?

P1090141

So just as I thought she was nearly ready to stuff and sew up. I find I have to knit the head again...AND, I have to sew (out of fabric) a whole doll to stuff and insert into the knitted doll! Let this be a lesson to you all, to read the pattern fully before starting a project, if for no other reason than to have a realistic expectation of how long it will take you.

I WILL finish this doll (if my eldest daughter has anything to do with it)

I'm going to try get it done for FO Friday...watch this space.

In the meantime, to keep myself sane, I've cast on something special for a friend. Sorry I can't say more than that at this point.

P1090140

The yarn is Sublime extra fine merino wool (4 ply) and it is divine! So so soft and squishy.

Before I wrap this post up. I thought you might like to see a couple of other crafty bits I got for my Birthday. This first lot is what I bought with the Birthday money I got from my Mum.

The yummy Sublime from above and 3 Symfonie circular needles so I can finally have a go at making socks on circulars instead of DPN's

P1090138

I gave in on the Spectra. I wasn't enjoying knitting it, so the lovely rainbow yarn that I won from A Stash Addict, will become socks or gloves (haven't decided which yet)

I also frogged the scarf I was making with the Knit Picks Chroma, twice! I somehow kept getting something wrong and with so many SSK's and YO's in there I was finding it hard to go back and correct, so I gave in.

I got this luscious Malabrigo sock yarn from a friend for my Birthday. She doesn't knit or crochet so I'm really impressed with her choice. It's to die for! I can't wait to knit with it. I've been thoroughly spoilt for my Birthday.

P1090142

Ok I'm sure after that long post you are ready to go see someone elses WIP's over at Tami's Amis. Thanks for reading xxx
